The reason I used "reputable" dealers is because I was on the phone with this guy for a long time over a number of weeks waiting for a P4F. Decided to keep it as I couldn't find a P4F anywhere at the time, ended up mailing it to S&B and doing a reticle change for $330. Turns out I got a P4 reticle instead of the P4F I wanted. The point is I wouldn't count out other sources for getting scopes because people have problems everywhere, even with "reputable" dealers, not just eBay. When I pay around $3000 for a scope I expect to receive the right one. Later on I decided to send it in for the reticle change. There was no point to return the scope because no one had a P4F available and I thought the P4 might have been ok for my use. If you find the scope you want in stock I would say get it even if it's on eBay and pay with a credit card because sometimes these things can be very hard to get. So, yes even the people reccomended on here can screw up. How the P4 came in I don't know but I would have expected a reputable dealer to send me the right optic or tell me he can't get the one I want. I now return us to the regularly-scheduled topic. To all reading this: I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread, and I apologize for this digression, but it was something that I felt needed to be said as dealers often don't get a fair shake. However, your sarcastic reference to "reputable dealers" suggests that the dealer would not make it right, when in fact it appears that you chose expediency over giving the dealer a chance to make it right by either issuing you a credit or refund, or ordering and delivering the "correct" scope to you when available.

I doubt that anyone held a gun to your head. If so, your decision to keep the P4 rather than return the scope, as well as your decision to have S & B change-out the P4 reticle for a P4F were exactly that - your decisions. The question is, were you offered a return option? Īs you were not able to find a P4F scope at the time (and presumably could not get a timeframe as to when you would be able to get one), I understand you not wanting to return the P4 scope and to wait for a P4F - you wanted a scope so you could go out and shoot. Did they knowingly send the wrong one? I don't know. I did order a P4F from them and got a P4 instead.
